Wooden containers in the form of pallets have been used for the transportation of goods for more than a century. Even before the Second World War, wooden pallets were already becoming more and more in demand for the transportation of goods. Today, no one will be surprised that almost every self-respecting company uses wooden pallets for transportation of its goods.

Nowadays, the use of wooden pallets is increasing. And even small companies are already taking advantage of wooden pallets. At the beginning of the twentieth century, wooden pallets were just starting to come in and were perplexing to most people. In those days it was predominantly railroad transportation. Goods were regularly scratched and spoiled when transported this way, which naturally lowered their value. The railroad companies were puzzled as to how to cut costs, the solution was obvious – the cargo had to be rigidly secured. The only question was how to secure the cargo?

This is how the ancestor of the wooden pallet came into being – the poloz. The skid does not look like a real type of cargo container at all. With the further development of the trucking industry, it became clear that the skid simply could not fulfill the necessary functions. Initially, it looked like two parallel planks, fastened together with bars on top. At altitude, the weight of the load increased several times and it began to malfunction.

After a short consideration, the construction was strengthened from the bottom, so we got the wooden pallet as we know it today. In the process of daily work of the movers, new defects were found, new functions that the wooden pallet should fulfill appeared. To save space, wooden pallets were placed on top of each other.
